ANSWERING THE BRIEF
Over 350 staff were involved with delivering programmes for some 20,000 guests from all over the world, with responsibility for over 200,000 event tickets. Sportsworld were once again the largest international buyer of event tickets
Appointments by 24 National Olympic Committees Worldwide, including; The British Olympic Association, The New Zealand Olympic Committee, The National Olympic Committee for South Africa, The Netherlands Olympic Committee and 20 Other NOC’s Worldwide, necessitated the creation of travel and hospitality programmes suitable to meet the needs of both the individual spectator right upto to bespoke sponsor arrangements.
In addition Sportsworld were appointed by 6 Team Millennium Olympic Partners and Supporter - Telstra, Ansett, Pacific Dunlop, Radio 2UE, Carlton & United Breweries and Fosters to operate Hospitality, Travel and Ticketing management programmes involving over 12,000 guests. Services included domestic and international travel, invitation management, provision of a call centre, event ticket management, accommodation, hospitality programmes and full event management services, including the provision and training of staff - in some cases up to 50+ staff.
Three years prior to the event as regional office had been established in Sydney, and this became the core central control for all Sportsworld’s Games times programmes. Individual account teams were established for each sponsor programme, each with it’s own account director and operational staff. In addition local specialist staff were supplemented by key senior management from Sportsworld’s head office in the UK. Key directors were relocated to Sydney for upto one year prior to the Games.
