A major telecommunications company and its retail partner wanted to hold a conference for 20 people, to introduce new key account managers in a relaxed and unique environment. Delegates were not to know where the venue was to be nor how they would be getting there.

ANSWERING THE BRIEF

Our conference and incentive department’s response to the brief was based on the client's  values of ‘reliability’, ‘leading edge’ and ‘attractive’ – and they ultimately came up with a concept that was ‘modern, original, and sleek’ with an element of unknown. From a choice of hotel options, the St Martin’s Lane hotel was selected as the venue. Situated in Covent Garden, this sophisticated Phillipe Starck designed hotel is a dramatic and exciting venue with a mixture of modern to the baroque. Features include the Asia to Cuba Restaurant, the Light Bar and interactive light displays in every guest room. The actual conference area was to be The Back Room – an elegant white marble lined room with water features on the wall.

The client specifically wanted the guests to arrive at the venue in an exciting and innovative way and after exploring a number of options from Smart Cars, vintage buses etc, guests were sent invitations (specifically designed) asking them to be outside their offices at a certain time – where on the day they were met, much to their surprise, by a motorbike to take them to the hotel.

At the venue, special lighting had been arranged to match the client's logo, and the music of recent promotions greeted delegates on arrival. In the meeting room were magenta pink sweets to match corporate colours, branded silver notepads with parker pens for each delegate.

After the conference, we had arranged drinks and dinner in the fashionable Asia to Cuba Restaurant within the hotel, and the evening finally ended with limousines home for the delegates.
