ANSWERING THE BRIEF
Sportsworld selected two golf course – the Carden Park Golf and Country Club in Cheshire, and The Buckinghamshire in Denham, Bucks. Carden Park Golf and Country Club – designed by Jack Nicklaus, this is a spectacular course which provides a challenge for golfers of all levels. Sportsworld proposed a choice of either 9 holes on the short par 3 course, or a golf school to be held on the golf range, followed by 18 holes on the famous Nicklaus course with Stapleford scoring.
The Buckingham Course in Denham, was designed by John Jacobs and set in 226 acres of parkland – ideally situated only 18 miles from central London. The format for the day will be 9 holes – ‘Texas Scramble’ or alternatively a golf school focussing on driving and the long game, followed by 18 holes, Stapleford scoring.
Sportsworld offered a fully inclusive programme, from morning tea and bacon rolls on arrival, golf as described above, a private 3 course dinner, registration, scorecards and scoreboards (computerised plasma screen), and the production and supply of a guest ‘goody bag’ for each player – consisting of branded ‘Post Office’ golf balls, ball marker and tees, minituare whisky and branded golf towel. Drinks, prizes, individual hole competitions were quoted for on an optional basis.
