ANSWERING THE BRIEF
We presented numerous European destinations but the client ultimately decided on Cape Town in South Africa, as a cost effective alternative with the current strength of the pound against the rand.
Cape Town offers a unique mixture of ‘Africa meets Europe’! With superb weather in our winter months it offers everything from superb water activities and beaches to lush mountainside wine estates. The ‘mother city’ (locally called) is the most up and coming destination worldwide with an increase of visitors by up by 20% 2002 figures.
The group of 16 people were to travel in January 2003 with 3 days on the ground. The Victoria Junction Hotel, in Cape Town, was selected as it offered a great location for both the town centre and the very famous V& A Waterfront complex . The design within the hotel is modern and upmarket therefore creating an impact to the group from the start of the trip.
The ‘Chill Out’ programme that we created was unique and innovative in its delivery including exciting activities such as abseiling off the famous Table Mountain, Harley Davidson rides through the amazing Cape Town scenery, full day water sports including motorised jet ski’s, banana and inflatable crocodile rides, private wine tasting and private cheetah viewing at Spier.
One of the evening highlights had to be the African evening with traditional drums and African dances setting the ambience perfectly for what turned out to be a highlight of the event.
Martlet’s services included; full event management, including pre event administration and communications, on site representation, travel arrangements, client documentation and invitation process management.
