SPORTSWORLD LAUNCHES 2009 LIONS TOUR PRE-REGISTRATION
20th November 2007

British & Irish Lions Rugby Tour 2009 in South Africa
Overview
2009 is going to be an exciting year for rugby, with the British & Irish Lions taking on the World Champions in their own backyard where fans will hope to see a repeat of the 1997 triumphant tour to South Africa.
Following disappointment in Australia (2001) and New Zealand (2005) demand for the South Africa Tour is unabated. The British & Irish Lions (www.lionsrugby.com) have appointed Lions Tour Limited to exclusively manage the Official Licensed Operator programme for the 2009 Lions tour to South Africa.
A network of specialist travel and hospitality agents, who between them will sell a variety of ticket-inclusive supporter travel and/or corporate hospitality products, will be recommended for appointment later this year.
John Feehan, the British Lions Limited chief executive, said: “Tens of thousands of supporters travelled to New Zealand in 2005 and the number travelling in 2009 is expected to be considerably more.
“The Official Licensed Operator programme will provide fans with a clear and secure way to guarantee their place on the tour. It is important to highlight that fans obtaining tickets from unofficial sources run the risk of having those tickets cancelled.”
Sportsworld, founded in 1980, has a history of delivering quality package tours to the world’s most sought after sporting events and it is for this reason we have set up a free pre-registration service, which is already well subscribed.
